STICKFAST
351 VINYL ESTER RESIN
|
| |
GENERAL
DESCRIPTION |
| |
| |
Stickfast
351 is a Vinayl Ester Resin based
on Bisphenol A Epoxy back bone combined
with methacrylic acid, thereby imparting
excellent thermal and mechanical properties
of epoxy resins with the ease of processing
and rapid curing of polyester resins.
It is recommended for use in the manufacture
FRP components viz. filament winding,
hand lay up centrifugal casting, bag
moulding or pultrusion.
Stickfast
351 is especially noted for high
temperature resistance, low shrinkage,
better adhesion and higher tensile
elongation.
SALIENT FEATURES
Stickfast 351 Vinyl Ester Resin
the unsaturation is terminal , thereby,
attributing to it the exceptionally
reactive carbon-to-carbon double
bonds. Therefore they cure rapidly,
consistently and completely to give
fast green strength and superior
creep resistance. A combination
of low viscosity and molecular,
weight and a unique chemical structure
result in a high corrosion resistance,
crack resistance cross linked thermoset
product with excellent glass wetting
and curing capability.

CURING
CHARACTERISTICS |
| |
Stickfast 351 cured by the use
of free-radical initiating catalysts.
The most commonly used catalyst
systems are similar to the one
used with Bisphenol-A fumaric
acid Polyster Resins

CAUTION: accelerator and promoter
should never be mixed with catalyst
as this would cause explosion.
The accelerator and promoter
should be blended into the resin
first. The catalyst should be
added just before use. |

AREAS
OF APPLICATION
Stickfast 351 Vinyl Ester
Resin have outstanding
resistance to corrosion
and stress cracking, Application
are pipe drainage, chemical
processing and storage
in pulp and paper, pulp
washing, effluent discharge,
mining, refining, fertilizer,
chemical and food processing
industries. Vinylester
resin are substantially
less brittle than polyesters-tensile
elongation is around 4-5%
compared with 1.5% for
corrosion resistance polysters.
Vinyl ester resin proved
effective against corrosion
by hydrochloric acid,
chlorinated brine, NaOH,SO,
sulphide, caustic soda,
chlorine plant residues,
ferric chloride etc.
FRP components based on
vinyl ester resin may
replace conventional linings
and pie work materials
such as glass, special
alloys, stainless steel
and rubber because they
resist a wide range of
chemicals, are easy to
handle install and maintain.
Vinyl ester resin are
less brittle than glass,
lighter and cheaper than
stainless steel and tougher
than polysters. |
