STICKFAST 353 BROMINATED VINYL ESTER RESIN
kerala

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Stickfast 353 is a Brominated Vinyl Ester Resin designed to have a very high degree of fire retardancy, coupled with excellent mechanical and chemical resistance properties. It is recommended for use in the manufacture of FRP Components viz filament winding, hand lay up, centrifugal casting, bag moulding or pultrusion.

SALIENT FEATURES
Stickfast 353 is a Brominated Vinyl Ester Resin the unsaturation is terminal, thereby attributing to it the expectionally reactive carbon= tocarbon double bonds. There for they are rapidly, consistently and completely to give fast green strength and superior creep resistance. The brominated Bisphenol a epoxy back bone in their molecular structure imparts a high degree of fire retardancy together with good mechanical and chemical resistance. Since fire retardance is achieved without additieves, chemical resistance is maintained and visual inspection of fabricated articles is not impaired.

CURING CHARACTERISTICS

Stickfast 353 brominated vinyl ester resins are polymerized by free-radical initiating catalysts. The most commonly used catalyst systems are similar to the one used with other grades of vinyl ester resins.

Typical gelation time of Stickfast 353 at 25 °C is given below.

:

Stickfast 353   100 gms
Promoter (DMA 8%)   1.5 ml.
Accelerator (Co 3%)   1.5 ml
Catalyst MEKP (50% Conc.)   1.5 ml.
Geltime (Minutes)   25

CAUTION : Accelerator and promoter should never be mixed with catalyst as this would cause explosion. The accelerator and promoter should be blended into the resin first. The catalyst should be added just before use.

AREAS OF APPLICATION

Stickfast 353 brominated vinyl ester resin shows chemical resistance properties similar to general purpose Vinyl Ester Resin Stickfast 351, but have added advantage of fire retardance and also performs at slightly higher temperature. Stickfast 353 brominated vinyl ester resin can be successfully used in FRP duct works, stack liner applications, equipment specified to handle mixtures of air and hot gases or potentially flammable liquids, building pannels and flooring compounds, where a high degree of fire resistance is needed.

Major end uses also include pollusion control scrubbing units, solvent extraction equipment and marine applications.
